Guest Bedroom | Game Plan

Guest Bedroom | Game Plan

Two weeks ago I shared the before pictures of our guest bedroom and now I will finally show the game plan for the room.

When I first started pinning pictures for a guest bedroom, I kept going with a Coral and Aqua color palette. While I love that palette, it never felt like me at least for our house but in other houses it looked amazing. I wanted to make it work but I just couldn't so I started from square one.

The first question in my mind was the direction I wanted the room to go. I knew I wanted it to feel luxurious as if you were staying at a fancy smancy hotel but how to get there I was uncertain.

Than I found it. The inspiration.

Yes.

The little mermaid.

I had the picture for years from a trip I made to Disneyland in California as a little girl. I knew immediately I would need to make sure the room wouldn't turn into a childish themey room but a room with sophistication.

Before even scouring Pinterest, I found the perfect curtains:

I was already satisfied with the direction we were going but I needed a little more inspiration so in came Pinterest.

See where I am going with this? Let's hope I can pull this off before summer  winter comes and go.

Where does your inspiration come from to makeover a room? Have you used Disney as your anchor piece for a room before?

Guest Bedroom | The Befores

Guest Bedroom | The Befores

The time has come to finally complete a guest bedroom. At our old house, our guest bedroom served as a storage for boxes I did not want to deal with going through. You know what I am talking about right?

Well, luckily our guest bedroom at the new house was occupied for the first few months and now that it is free again we want to complete it before it becomes a dumping ground  (which honestly it already has a little).

So let's get to the befores because whats a makeover without showing the starting point but first let me start off apologizing about the lighting of the photos. I just got my Nikon Coolpix P530 for Christmas and I am still learning how to adjust the lens.

This is the view if you would be entering the room after coming out of the laundry room and you can already see the random stand in there.

Now you see, I also have my sister's TV stored in here as well as a random stand. Anywho, I am most excited about this view because I have curtains that are on the way and they should be here any day.

Looking towards the closet and the entry of the bedroom. I also have plans to re-model the closet as well but that will be a whole other project at a different time.

And that is a pile of pillows that need to be cleaned but I am ashamed to say that I have been too lazy to deal with them so I stuffed them in here and closed the door. Dumping ground much?

One last look when you enter in the bedroom.
For a better understanding of the layout, I created this thingy mahjig. The random things will be removed and will not be apart of the gameplan. Speaking of gameplan, I have already been working on items for the direction of this room but I will save that for another post.

Do you have a dumping ground? What do you use your spare bedroom for? Does anyone else hate washing pillows?

Oh Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree

Oh Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree

After showing our display holder, I decided I would show off our Christmas tree as well. Every year putting up the Christmas tree is a great reminder of God's loving mercy for us. We take this reminder a step further by hanging tags on our tree with some of the different names of God.

I must say this personalized touch is my favorite thing to put on the tree. We are able to reread these names every year and reflect on these names to understand who God is. Another personal touch to our tree is the vintage glass ornaments Babcia gifted us with last year. I love vintage and antique decor and was excited to receive all these from my grandmother.

The last personal touch to our tree is random ornaments Anthony and I pick out every year. We will go to the store and pick out an ornament each that represents us in some way.

Anthony played the saxophone in high school.
I was able to travel to London
the year before starting high school.
I love how all these pieces join together and create a meaningful tree for my hubby and I to admire and reminisce during the holidays.

Introducing stormieariel decor...

Introducing stormieariel decor...

A few years ago, I looked into hobbies that could bring in extra money. I loved dogs and was raised around breeding so I decided that was the perfect income hobby. While I will continue that hobby, it isn't a constant flow unless you have multiple dogs. We now only have two dogs, Labrador retrievers, and plan to keep it that way, at least for now.

So, Anthony started thinking of other hobbies we can do to bring in extra money as well. He came up with quite a few but one we can enjoy together is building and creating. Which is why we set up shop (I don't really know what that means but sounded cool).

Not only will we be creating decor for our house but for your house too! If there is something you like that we created, we will be more than glad to take orders and customize it! We have already started creating a few items and some are already listed on my etsy shop. Of course, items I have created in the past can be ordered as well!
