stormieariel style | ed. 3

stormieariel style | ed. 3

Wow guys! It's been way too long..well like a week but felt like longer. Last week I decided to spend all my free time binge watching Jane The Virgin. I'm obsessed. I didn't even get any workouts in so this week there is no update on my progress but I will share my journey of this week next week. Also, I typically post Monday, Wednesday, and Friday but have decided it's best for me to only do twice a week so I will start posting on Tuesday and Thursday now. Enough chit chat, lets get to why you are really here unless you wanna chat I could chat all day so please feel free to leave comments!

As you know, last year, I began taking daily photos of my outfits as I was learning how to mix and match the clothing items I already had, to create new outfits. I was also learning to step out my comfort zone by breaking some old fashion rules that I stuck by (check out that series here) but now those rules are out the window. As I was venturing into my new fashion style I was constantly sharing my outfits on Instagram (#stormiearielstyle).

Once I got pregnant, I continued sharing my daily outfits along with weekly Bumps Dates here on the blog and on Instagram. After sharing my everyday mom style during my first month and a half postpartum, I decided to continue to share my everyday looks in a monthly format here on the blog. I will also continue posting my everyday style on Instagram in real life time so be sure you are following me (@stormieariel).

This month I have been super busy and didn't have much chance to snap my outfit pictures however I was super glad about being able to get myself and Sophia dressed and fed and letting the dogs out AND fixing the bed all before 11:20am. It's the little things guys and I can guarantee that was the only morning that happened.

stormieariel style | ed. 2

stormieariel style | ed. 2

Welcome back guys! I am kinda getting caught back up on my blog post schedule and I am excited for the weekend as always! Did this week fly by or what? Probably helped that it was only a 4 day work week for Anthony to seem so. What do you guys have planned for the weekend?

Before we get ready for a birthday party this weekend, it's time for the next roundup of my everyday style. Remember for real time feed follow me on Instagram (@stormieariel) and my outfits are always captioned with #stormiearielstyle and if you can't get enough of my Little Love she has her own hashtag #sophiamanuela

I think this month, I was definitely coming into my own and getting more comfortable with my style again. As some of you may know I was struggling with my style as a nursing momma but just pull up that shirt girl! You don't need fancy nursing tops to feed your child. You can still rock your normal wardrobe, look fashionable and feed the kid. Win, win, win for everyone.

Olive and black and white stripes are a no brainer and are always a go-to match in my book.

Hey Guys! Who is glad it's Friday?! I know I am!! Not because we have plans but Anthony is off on the weekends and it's nice having more quality family time with him and Little Love. I love seeing their interaction with each other and he is so amazing in helping with her as much as he can especially after last weekend. I had a horrible crick in my neck that had me in tears.

Anyways...

Wardrobe Remixing | Nursing Mom Edition Vol. 1

Wardrobe Remixing | Nursing Mom Edition Vol. 1

If you have been sticking around than you know how I talked about trying to find my new mom style in this post and how I'm resisting the urge to shop in this post. Well I am sticking to my guns (who even came up with that phrase? And what does guns have to do with making a decision?).

I decided to continue remixing my current wardrobe and making it work for me with my new role as a nursing momma. I talked about buying nursing camis and button ups to make nursing easier and they certainly do BUT you can still wear regular clothes and nurse your baby just fine!

I wanted something that was simple yet pulled together and this shirt makes it so easy to do just that and by pairing it with a nursing cami underneath I was able to nurse Little Love without showing any belly.

I am still wearing my maternity jeans because this momma still has extra fluff. #noshameinmygame #reallifemom

I hope you were able to gain inspiration and realizing you don't have to purchase a whole new wardrobe after baby even if you are a nursing momma. I would recommend only investing in a few nursing camis and nursing bras (I have two camis, one bra and two night time bras) but other than that use what is in your closet and make it work for you! And don't feel you have to fit into your regular jeans or shirts right away. It's not realistic and it will take time to get your pre-pregnancy body back (don't forget it took 10 months to put it on).

Another tip: If you are really tight on budget like we are, use some of those gift cards from your babyshower to purchase nursing bras or camis. I felt guilty at first but realized it benefits the baby as well so go head girl!

Side Note: Ignore my horrible posing, I might get it one day but for right now forgive me and give me pointers if you have any! It's no secret I am in need of it. And to think I use to want to be America's Next Top Model as a teenager. Psh.

Real Everyday Style of a New Mom

Real Everyday Style of a New Mom

I can't be the only new mom wondering how the heck other bloggers or Instagram mommas always look so put together? I mean I can barely manage to brush my teeth in the morning let alone get dressed! No joke, I stay in my pajamas until noon which is when my husband comes home for lunch so he can entertain Little Love while I throw on some clothes. Maybe if I woke up before Little Love's morning feeding I could probably manage a morning routine but lets get real waking about every 2-3 hours I'm too exhausted to try to wake up earlier than her at this point. Also, lets not forget to mention the extra fluff us everyday moms still have from the pregnancy and I don't have the budget to buy a whole new wardrobe.

Side Story: When I first tried to gain inspiration for my new style as a mom I typed in everyday looks for moms on Pinterest and a lot of the outfits are cute and simple but most of them are moms wearing jeans or dresses or skirts. For one, jeans are not comfortable for me to lay around in or get on the floor plus my jeans still don't fit right now. Number two, when you have a child you don't want to have to worry about sitting like a lady so that takes out the skirts and dresses all together PLUS being a nursing momma I have to have the right dress that allows easy access to the boob but again who has time to sit like a lady when you have a newborn in tow?

Back to the point, I decided to share what I have been wearing on the day to day this last month as a new momma. I recreated each outfit I remember wearing since I was to occupied taking photos of my babygirl everyday that I didn't manage to take snapshots of me wearing each outfit but be warned these outfits are not fashionable by any means. My everyday style right now is meant for comfort and easy access to nurse my daughter.

Side Note: I do try to dress nicer when we have somewhere to go but if we are home all day than comfort wins overall.

The first three outfits were on constant repeat the first week and half postpartum because they were the only nursing shirts I had (and yes those are the same shorts, don't judge). I did however decide to shop (see my review here) and bought a few more nursing friendly shirts.

Maternity Cross-Front Shirt (similar) | Shorts (similar)
The two nursing camis quickly became my favorite and those were on constant repeat and I would only wear the others when the nursing camis needed to be washed.

Nursing Tops | Shorts (similar)

I finally came to the conclusion that you don't necessarily need nursing shirts or button up shirts to nurse, they make things easier but they aren't necessarily necessary so I started wearing my regular camis as well and I just pull down the strap when I nurse, after all I am home in my room so no need to be discreet.

I hope you were able to grab inspiration and enjoyed seeing the real everyday look of a new momma.

Bump Date | 36 Weeks with Sophia

Bump Date | 36 Weeks with Sophia

I decided to document our pregnancy as a way to get all my feelings and emotions out and to later look and remember this beautiful time in our lives. I hope you enjoy if you decide to follow along on this life changing journey.

This was our first weekend with absolutely no plans and it was a glorious weekend of nesting and relaxing. It was so nice to be able to do that especially since my sister took my grandmother out and about Saturday and Sunday. We got to enjoy just each other so it seemed like a staycation/babymoon!

I felt my first practice contractions this week, or at least I think I did as it was pretty uncomfortable. Like very. I will verify once I have real contractions.

Nesting was in full swing for both Anthony and I, we cleaned up around the house and finished setting up our Pack 'n Play as that is what Little Love will sleep in the first few months. I focused on deep cleaning our bedroom and making it fresh and we also gave the dogs the boot. They are officially no longer allowed in the bedroom and I can say it is a relief surprisingly, no more dog hair! After we got as much nesting done as we could, we relaxed and did not do anything else besides lounge and eat, and because we did so much lounging and nesting, we didn't get to do our regular bump date picture but I thought I would share a collage of the growing bump for this week as well as my everyday style snapshots per usual.

Bump Date | 35 Weeks with Sophia

Bump Date | 35 Weeks with Sophia

I decided to document our pregnancy as a way to get all my feelings and emotions out and to later look and remember this beautiful time in our lives. I hope you enjoy if you decide to follow along on this life changing journey.

The countdown has officially started and I can not be more anxious and excited to meet my Little Love. This week my energy has still been really good and I actually have had really good sleep! We also were showered with love from the ladies in our church as they threw a combined  baby shower honoring our little girl and another couple in the church who is expecting a little boy. I was going to do a baby shower post from the co-ed family and friends one we had last month but I decided to hold off until after my work baby shower (this little girl is so loved by so many already) and  I will share all showers in a combined post. It just makes it easier for me to write one post and to later find and reminiscence with it being all in one place and I honestly don't know if I have the energy to break down each shower into separate posts...so yeah.

Lastly, we finished our last class of the Bradley Method. I was also planning on doing a post once we completed the course but figured I should wait until after labor and delivery so I can tell you specifically how the course helped prepare us for the real thing. So be on the lookout for those posts!

Bump Date | 34 Weeks with Sophia

Bump Date | 34 Weeks with Sophia

I decided to document our pregnancy as a way to get all my feelings and emotions out and to later look and remember this beautiful time in our lives. I hope you enjoy if you decide to follow along on this life changing journey.

I definitely felt a little bit more energy this week so I'm betting those iron supplements is what I have been needing. Although I have some energy back, I am still tired if that makes any sense? I am just ready to have my body back and to be able to cuddle and hold my babygirl in my arms but no worries I won't be rushing her no matter how bad I want her here.

I don't know if I said this in a previous post or not but I feel I am as ready for labor as can be, the human body is a wonderful thing and created so perfectly that I trust my body will do exactly what it needs to for Little Love to arrive here safety and because I have that mindset, I think it will makes things a little easier (of course, when I am actually in labor, it may be a totally different story so I will definitely keep you updated on that).

We also noticed Little Love is poking out a whole lot more, it literally happened overnight. And this little girl has not slowed down a bit; my pregnancy app and books that I have read says the movement slows down at this point because of lack of space but that is not the case here. I feel she moves so much more and with more strength. It sometimes feels like she is trying to push herself out!

As you can see, I found a little inspiration this week for my outfits. I took Sunday evening to plan ahead for the week and not only did it make me feel great being "dressed" up for work but it made it so much easier getting dressed in the mornings so I may have to keep this pre-planning up.

The only complaint is none of my shoes fit except flip flops as you can see that is all I wore this week however they do not leave much support and make my feet swell more. Any suggestions?

Bump Date | 33 Weeks with Sophia

Bump Date | 33 Weeks with Sophia

I decided to document our pregnancy as a way to get all my feelings and emotions out and to later look and remember this beautiful time in our lives. I hope you enjoy if you decide to follow along on this life changing journey.

Can you believe I only have about 7 weeks left in this pregnancy?? It seems unreal and time flew by although now it kind of seems like a stand still. Mornings are getting harder, getting up and ready for work is a nightmare; nights are still hard to even fall asleep no matter how tired I am. I feel like I have tried all types of sleeping remedies and will just have to suck it up.

My current nighttime routine starts with a warm bath after dinner, I lay and soak for about 20 minutes and than get in the actual shower. After I have dried off, combed my hair, etc. Anthony and I will do some relaxing techniques we are learning in our birthing class. The simplest and easiest one is him rubbing my back and while it relaxes me, it doesn't put me to sleep. This is when the horrible cycle begins of tossing, turning and peeing. Yupp, peeing. While I toss and turn, my little love tosses and turns on my bladder. Fun times, I tell you. So if you mommas have any sleeping techniques that worked for you when you were preggo, I am all ears.

Little Love is definitely moving a lot more which I thought she was suppose to slow her moving down due to lack of room from her growth spurts but that hasn't stopped her one bit. She enjoys jamming her self into my left side and than it feels as if she stretches since I feel a lot of pressure down below and feeling like I am being stabbed in my ribs at the same time. It's hard to imagine this little girl has grown so long to be able to do that and I can't wait to see her at our 36 week ultrasound (the last time we saw her was at 20 weeks). And of course, I absolutely am excited to see her in person. Her little nose and toes and fingers. Looking into her beautiful face, I know it will all be worth it.

As last week, I continued to keep my outfits pretty simple and causal. It just makes it easier getting dressed in the mornings and who says causal can't be cute or fashionable? I am making it work for me so whether your preggo or not, causal can be cute. My formula is truly basic, jeans and sperry's with a shirt and depending on the weather I may add a layer such as a cardigan or sweater to it. If you wanna up the factor, add in a statement necklace or scarf or even a handbag as I typically do for my outfits when I am not pregnant. I hope you can find inspiration in these outfits to create simple outfits for yourself!

Bump Date | 32 Weeks with Sophia

Bump Date | 32 Weeks with Sophia

I decided to document our pregnancy as a way to get all my feelings and emotions out and to later look and remember this beautiful time in our lives. I hope you enjoy if you decide to follow along on this life changing journey.

I must admit, this week of pregnancy has been the hardest between the discomfort and the exhaustion although my blood work showed I am anemic so hopefully taking iron supplements will give me a little boost of energy again.

I remember once I felt comfortable in my pregnancy and it finally felt real that we had a baby growing inside of me, I would have anxiety attacks thinking about being 30 weeks or further along because of the fear of giving birth. However, when I think about birth day now I try to picture what this beautiful babygirl will look like and wonder what type of emotions I will go through and it feels like I am daydreaming. I don't have the fear I once had, I am actually looking forward to going into labor just so I can finally have my Little Love in my arms. I think one of the things I am looking most forward to after pregnancy is the ability to lay on my stomach again. I have been struggling for weeks, WEEKS, with sleeping comfortably and I know I obviously won't ever have a good night rest becoming a mother but I just want to at least get to rest my body comfortably. No matter which side I sleep on, Little Love scoots to that side and elbows and knees me and when I lay on my back (it's only to give my sides relief for a few moments) Little Love smooshes my lungs and makes it pretty hard to breath. I am definitely being prepared for the sleepless nights to come but I know it will be worth it once I get to stare down at my baby.
Maternity Dot Print Blouse (similar) |

I also struggled a lot with putting outfits together this week, I didn't have the energy or the inspiration plus my feet are hurting a lot more and coming up with cute outfits to coordinate with my tennis shoes instead of flats is kinda hard. I feel at this point its more about comfort but I hope I can find inspiration to make my outfits fashionable so I don't feel like I gave up on my life which is how I felt this week. Not a good feeling.

Bump Date | 31 Weeks with Sophia

Bump Date | 31 Weeks with Sophia

I decided to document our pregnancy as a way to get all my feelings and emotions out and to later look and remember this beautiful time in our lives. I hope you enjoy if you decide to follow along on this life changing journey.

At this point, I feel like time is flying but at the same time it is at a stand still. I am so anxious to meet our little girl but still feel like this is unreal. I imagine what it will be like the day I see her for the first time and the emotions I am bound to go through but it feels like it's only a dream. Obviously her little kicks and punches remind me its not a dream and while I'm anxious to meet her and have my body back (tossing and turning in bed is no fun), I am trying to soak up these last weeks before she is here. I know I will miss these little moments we share of her wiggling around inside of me and I know I will miss the alone time Anthony and I have been able to share without children, those moments will be harder to find.

I also noticed such a huge difference in my belly size from Week 30 to Week 31, baby girl has definitely grown. It shows in my energy level as well, I have been even more exhausted this past week and find I cannot stay on my feet too long without them pounding or my heart racing. All simple tasks are now nearly impossible and must be assessed before performing.
