DIY Frame Tutorial

We are halfway through the work week, hooray! I can't wait for this weekend mostly because I am excited for everyone to open their gifts. We bought Anthony's dad this shirt for Father's Day and I plan on making him this card to go along with it, we are gifting Anthony's mom a necklace similar to this one and earrings like these for her birthday and I made Anthony a gift based off this pin I found but I am unable to find the original source (please leave the link below if you know so I can give proper credit). I decided to show a tutorial in how I achieved the look for our frame.

As I mentioned in my Father's Day Craft roundup, Scrabble and Words with Friends is a favorite game for Anthony and I to play with each other and to play with his dad and brother so I knew immediately I wanted to try to recreate a scrabble word frame. This project is very cheap and easy to do and took less than 10 minutes to complete. My type of project with a very needy baby in tow!

Materials
Shadow Frame (similar)

The frame I chose is similar to a shadow box except it isn't bulky, I would best describe the frame as being recessed. This left enough room for the tiles to be glued to the mat and still lay flat in the frame.

To start off, I simply laid out the tiles on the mat to figure out spacing. Once I was satisfied with the look, I put a small dab of hot glue on a tile.

I only removed the tile I was working with so I wouldn't loose the spacing I created.

Once all tiles were glued on, I put the mat back in the frame and I put the picture I selected aligned with the opening. I attached it with a small piece of tape at the top of the back of the photo so it wouldn't move. Ta-Da!

The possibilities are endless, you can create a frame spelling out you and your significant other's name showing your wedding photo. Or even your parent's name as a great anniversary gift. Possible graduation gift? Babyshower gift? I hope you find inspiration in this quick and easy (and cheap) tutorial, just remember be creative and make this yours.

Now what should I create with the rest of the scrabble tiles? Keychain? Coasters? Have you created something using scrabble tiles that I should try?
