Who Does it All?

A few weeks ago, I read a blog post that talked about creating a word for yourself for the new year and as I have been pondering what my word should be, patience kept coming to mind. I didn't want that word honestly but it kept coming up each time I thought of words for myself.

If you read my post a few weeks ago about 9 things I have learned since becoming a mom, two of those things were about patience. I learned I have patience but I don't practice patience.

I want to show more patience to Sophia, to Anthony but even to myself

As moms we get so wrapped up in comparing ourselves to other moms and wondering how they do it all but the truth is, none of us do it all. Behind close doors something is being left undone that we just choose to not advertise.

Mine would be my home. I use to be very OCD and needing to have our home cleaned a certain way but having an elderly woman, a baby and two dogs plus babysitting another baby for five hours Monday through Friday, it's nearly impossible to keep anything clean long enough. You will always find coffee grains on our counters and kitchen floors, dog hair all over the place, cheerios in every nook and cranny and nine times out of ten you will find dirty dishes in my sink.

I get so overwhelmed with how everything gets dirty so quickly that it turns into frustration and than I compare - how on earth do other moms seem to always have a perfectly clean house? - which doesn't do anyone any good.

So I want to practice more patience towards myself for not being a great housekeeper during this season, more patience towards my baby girl who can get very needy when mommy is trying to get something accomplished, more patience towards my amazing husband who is juggling full-time work and full-time school and still helping out where I am lacking in our home plus being a full-time dad.

How can you show yourself more patience? What word would you attribute to yourself for a year?

  1. I can show myself more patience in the amount of things I do in a day. Not just cleaning, but errands, cooking, work, etc.
I don't have a word yet... I've seen several people post one and kind of wrote it off, but I'll put some thought into it.
